When to report for check-in: BASIC LAW ENFORCEMENT (9 weeks) Please plan to arrive for orientation on SUNDAY promptly at 4:00 in Khaki Classroom Uniform (see next page for Classroom Uniform). bring this manual with you when you report for orientation. After orientation you will receive your dormitory room assignment and move into your room. With the exception of weekends, basic law students are not permitted to leave campus for any reason during the first two weeks of training. Students who wish to stay off campus after week 2 need an authorization letter from the department head for approval to commute. Basic Law students interested in VA benefits should bring their DD214 form, Copy #4. SPECIAL BASIC LAW ENFORCEMENT (First 3 or 4 Weeks of Basic Training Session): Officers who are formerly certified (either out-of-state or in SC) need to report to the classroom before 8:00 a.m. Monday morning. The receptionist can advise you which classroom has been assigned for your course. You may, at your option, check into the dormitory on the Sunday before class begins between 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Students who wish to stay off campus need an authorization letter from their department head for approval to commute. LIMITED DUTY (First 9 Days of the Basic Training Session): Report to the classroom before 8:00 a.m. Monday morning. The receptionist can advise you which classroom has been assigned for your course. You may, at your option, check into the dormitory on the Sunday before class begins between 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Students who wish to stay off campus need an authorization letter from their department head for approval to commute. BASIC JAIL (3 Weeks): Jail Officers (including those officers NOT staying on campus) must report to the gymnasium at 4:00 p.m. on the Sunday prior to the first day of class for orientation, daily inspections, formation training and dorm room assignment. The officers should report in duty attire for this orientation. BASIC JAIL – LEGALS ONLY (First 2 Days of Basic Jail Session): Report to classroom before 8:00 a.m. Monday morning. The receptionist can advise you which classroom has been assigned for your course. You may, at your option, check into the dormitory on the Sunday before class begins between 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. TO ALL STUDENTS: No pagers or cell phones are allowed in the classroom, except during breaks or lunch, unless approved by the Training Coordinator. Cell phones may be used normally after training hours. No tape recorders or study guides are allowed. The dorms open each Sunday at 6:00 p.m.; current students may not enter dorms until this time. Parking for ALL Basic Students is in the parking lot across the road from the main entrance into the Criminal Justice Academy. |
