Make photographic record of the scene.  

Supervise the photographer, photograph the scene in progressive sequence, overview to close-up. First without scale, then with.  Film is cheap; you can never take too many pictures.  Utilize a flash if necessary.


Overview to show evidence location in relation to fixed position.

Move evidence for better photograph only after the "as is" photograph has been taken and is necessary for additional identification.
